Steps
Connect the source to S16
Plug the microphone or instrument into an available S16 input. For bass or keyboard, use a DI box when needed.
Use phantom power only when needed
Turn on 48V only for condenser microphones or active DI boxes that require it. Dynamic microphones such as SM57 and SM58 do not need 48V.
Confirm the connected device before enabling 48V. If unsure, ask the GMIS PIC.
Create the Logic project
Open Logic Pro and create the project on the NVMe SSD. Name it with date, class, performer, and song title.
Set the input and gain
Select the correct Logic input channel, then set gain from the X32 so peaks sit around -12 dB. Leave headroom for loud moments.
Arm, monitor, and record
Arm the track, check monitoring, and record a short test. If the signal is clean, record full takes and label the best takes clearly.
Export a reference mix
After recording, save the project and export a quick reference mix for review. Keep the full project folder on the NVMe SSD.
Clean up the session
Lower monitors, quit Logic Pro after saving, return microphones and cables, and note any problems for the GMIS PIC.
